Project Introduction:
With the full acceleration of infrastructure construction under the “National Development Plan III (NDPIII)” and the “East African Community Common Market,” projects such as the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway expansion, complementary works for the Isimba Hydropower Station, the Hoima-Luweero road network, and multiple industrial parks have been launched. This has created a surge in demand for high-quality, high-strength aggregates. Granite, which is abundant, high-hardness, and highly abrasive-resistant in Uganda, is the ideal material for building high-grade roads, bridges, and dams. Against this background, a major local Ugandan construction materials enterprise invested in establishing a 300 metric tons per hour (TPH) granite crushing production line. Located in a granite-rich mining area in Central or Western Uganda, the project utilizes the mature and efficient “Feeding → Jaw Crushing → Cone Crushing → Screening” process. It is dedicated to producing high-quality crushed aggregates that comply with East African Standards (EAS), providing solid support for infrastructure development in Uganda and surrounding nations.
Core Equipment and Process Flow
To meet the challenges of granite’s high hardness (Mohs hardness 6-7) and strong abrasiveness, the production line selects core equipment featuring high wear resistance and high reliability, ensuring long-term stable operation under high-intensity workloads.
Main Equipment Configuration:
Heavy-Duty Vibrating Feeder:
Responsible for uniformly and continuously conveying the blasted granite raw material to the jaw crusher.
Equipped with heavy-duty grizzly bars for pre-screening to remove soil, debris, and weathered soft rock, preventing blockages, protecting the main equipment, and improving overall line efficiency and product cleanliness.
Jaw Crusher:
Serves as the Primary Coarse Crushing core, processing hard granite with a maximum feed size of up to 750 mm, and controlling the output size to 150-200 mm.
Features high-manganese steel jaw plates and an optimized deep cavity design, providing a high crushing ratio and long service life, suitable for continuous operation in Uganda’s tropical climate.
Single-Cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher:
Functions as the Secondary Medium-Fine Crushing equipment, efficiently crushing the material from the jaw crusher.
Features hydraulic discharge opening adjustment and an over-tramp iron protection system, ensuring high automation and simplified maintenance.
Utilizes the laminated crushing principle to produce high-quality crushed stone (0-40 mm) with a uniform particle shape, low flakiness and elongation index (<10%), and high liberation, which is particularly ideal for high-grade road pavement and concrete projects.
Vibrating Screen:
Configured with a three-layer screen deck for precise classification of the material from the cone crusher, typically divided into:
0-5 mm: Can be used as manufactured sand raw material or road base fill.
5-10 mm, 10-20 mm: Primarily used for concrete batching plants.
20-40 mm: Suitable for mass concrete, road sub-base layers, and hydraulic engineering projects.
Closed-circuit design: Oversized material is returned to the cone crusher for re-crushing, ensuring stable final product size.
Process Flow Summary:
Blasted granite from the quarry is transported by truck to the production line and uniformly fed into the Jaw Crusher via the vibrating feeder for coarse crushing.
The coarse-crushed material is conveyed via belt to the Single-Cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher for medium-fine crushing.
The crushed material proceeds to the Multi-Layer Vibrating Screen for classification.
Qualified finished products are classified and stored by specification.
All products supply local batching plants, road construction teams, and national key projects.
System Features:
High Adaptability: Specifically designed for high-hardness granite, with high equipment wear resistance and long maintenance cycles.
Stable and Efficient: 300 TPH capacity, with an annual output exceeding 2 million tons, meeting regional market demand.
Automated Control: Equipped with a PLC control system for remote monitoring and data management.
Positive Impact on the Local Ugandan Community
Ensuring Material Supply for Major National Projects: The high-strength granite aggregates produced by the project will directly serve critical initiatives like the Kampala urban renewal, the Entebbe International Airport expansion, and the Isimba Hydropower Station, securing project schedules and quality while reducing reliance on imported aggregates.
Driving the Upgrade of the Local Construction Materials Industry: The project replaces the traditional “manual quarrying and simple crushing” outdated model by introducing a modern, mechanized production line, elevating the technical level and production efficiency of Uganda’s construction materials sector and setting a new industry benchmark.
Creating Substantial Employment Opportunities: The project directly creates 80-100 technical and operational jobs and stimulates the growth of supporting industries such as transportation, power, and equipment maintenance, providing stable income for local residents and aiding poverty reduction and rural revitalization.
Promoting Regional Economic Development: The establishment of the project will drive improvements in infrastructure around the mining area, such as roads and power supply, attract related enterprises to cluster, foster a construction materials industrial cluster, and promote regional economic diversification.
